~  Information For Extras

Want To Be An Extra?

If you would like to be a member of SASHAZE Extras, then please contact us and we will keep you updated on our official forthcoming registration days. When you turn up to one of our registration days there are a few details you must have with you:

• National Insurance Number (we can not give you work if you do not have one)
• A form of I.D.

Please try and look your best, as your photograph will be taken. Avoid white, cream (light, pale colours in general) and red coloured tops and ensure that you are not wearing any distracting patterns, stripes or obvious logos. Ensure you are neat, tidy and natural looking. If you normally wear glasses, then make sure you wear them when getting your picture taken. A note for all the beautiful ladies, please keep the make-up natural and to the bare minimum and avoid fake tan! Wear you hair down and natural, do not curl or crimp it.

Info For Extras

Once you become a member of SASHAZE Talent Agency, you are one of our representatives and thus you must behave in an appropriate manner at all times.

Due to the nature of this business, our clients come to us with different requirements. SASHAZE cannot guarantee that you will be cast for any role, however once registered, SASHAZE will try their best to find a role suitable for you.

When added to our online database, only limited details are publicly viewed and the rest of your details are kept on our private, protected database offline. The pictures of children under the age of 16 are kept in a private and secured area of the website which can only be accessed by those with login details, and the password is regularly changed. Personal details will only be shared with production companies and the staff, after you have accepted a job on that production.

If your contact details change at any time you are registered with us, then it goes without saying that it is your responsibility to inform us immediately. Similarly if your personal appearance changes considerably (hair colour/style etc.) then you must inform us at once, as you may look significantly different from the details we have provided. Further, after we have booked you for a job, please do not change your appearance from the time of booking to the time of the job.

Before accepting any job that we offer, it is very important for you to ensure that you are definitely available to work on the date(s) specified… please be 100% certain!! You cannot confirm you will be there, then call us the day before and tell us that you can’t turn up for a job for some reason or another. Check beforehand! It is perfectly all right however, for you to not accept a job when offered if it does not suit for whatever reason. If you suddenly do become unavailable for a booked job then we can’t stress enough that you must let us know immediately!

Once you have accepted and confirmed a job, we will then contact you the day before the shoot with confirmed details of call times and location. We generally don’t give any of this information before as it is likely to continually change or we are simply not given this information in advance.

Preparation

In preparation for a job, please take a note of all the details that you are given over the phone so you don’t forget them. When booked, always ensure you know your call time, the shoot day and the location. Sort out in advance how you are going to get to the location, how long it takes, is there car parking in the area or a bus stop, and if you do not know where the location is make sure you get directions. SASHAZE or the Production cannot take responsibility for your transport to and from the location. Also please make sure that you have a mobile phone with you should you get lost or delayed. You must let us know if you are going to be more than 15 minutes late. Also DO NOT FORGET… ensure you know what clothing you are required to bring along with you and any hair or makeup requirements you have been asked to do in advance.

The Big Day!!

Depending on the type of job you are booked for, and what time you are called for, you may be offered breakfast and/or lunch. Call times can range, but you are often booked for 12 hours, and anything that goes over this is usually taken as overtime. As previously mentioned, once you arrive on location you are a representative of SASHAZE Talent Agency and hence must act appropriately at all times. We have compiled a general ‘yes’ and ‘no’ list for how to carry yourself when on set, so please read through the list and make sure you understand each of the points… they are very important!

NO!
• Never be late… in fact try and arrive 10 minutes early!!
• Never look at the camera or in the direction of the camera when filming
• Never ‘overact’, be as natural as possible
• Never be rude
• It is not permitted to talk to the actors, take photographs, use any recording equipment (including your phone) or ask for autographs. Don’t forget that they are there to do a job. If you don’t abide by this you may be dismissed instantly without pay.
• No personal belongings to be brought on set
• No mobile phones – they must be switched off!
• No smoking on set
• No friend or family member is to be brought along, unless agreed beforehand or are under a certain age.
• Talking to the local press or media is prohibited by the Productions. Once you sign your release form/payment voucher you are also signing a confidentiality agreement.
• Never take unscheduled breaks, please ensure you go to the toilet before you are called on set.
• Never complain to the directors or production team and go to them directly. If you have any problems contact one of us here at SASHAZE and we will sort it out for you.
• Never talk back to the production team. As soon as you arrive you are representing SASHAZE Talent Agency, we don’t tolerate that sort of inappropriate behaviour and neither will the Production. Failure to control any attitudes or take direction easily may result in you being dismissed instantly without pay.
• Never leave the set or the location unless told to do so. Also make sure that at the end of the day you return your fully completed form and any costumes or props loaned to you by the Production (in good condition) before you leave. You will be held responsible for any loss and/or damage to any articles loaned to you (unless they were specified for wear and tear!)

YES!
• Always bring your National Insurance Number
• Also bring a book or something to read to amuse yourself whilst you are waiting for setups.
• Be responsible with all your personal items and belongings – avoid bringing anything valuable with you. Don’t ever bring any of your personal belongings on set with you.
• Prepare for all weather conditions… Don’t forget, we are still in Northern Ireland!
• Sign in as soon as you arrive at the shoot with the assistant director or extras co-ordinator, otherwise they won’t know that you have arrived.
• Please fill out clearly all of the copies of the Artist Release Form/Payment Voucher and don’t leave anything out – make sure you include your National Insurance Number, your postcode and in what name you want your cheque made payable to. Keep these forms safe until the end of the day when you are asked to hand it back – make sure you return the forms as it is through these you get paid! (Please Note: Payment usually takes between 4-6 weeks, however this tends to differ for each production).
• When on set it is important that you remain quiet. The film crew need to be able to communicate without distraction.
• Listen carefully to the directions you will be given by the assistant directors team about where to go and what to do. Please ensure that you understand what is being asked of you and clarify anything that you don’t understand.
• Know your starting position (i.e. where you are when ‘action’ is shouted). When ‘cut’ is shouted, return to your starting position immediately.
• Remember your actions! For continuity purposes be prepared to repeat your main actions over and over again for each take.
• Please be cautious and mindful of your own health and safety, especially in relation to surrounding equipment.
• Please remain in the area allocated to you in between filming and ensure you inform whoever is looking after you when you need a toilet break as it is vital they know where you are at all times.
• Most importantly… ENJOY YOURSELF!! You may be working, but being on a film set is a very exciting experience, and you will probably get the opportunity to meet lots of new people!

Also note that due to the nature of the business, sudden schedule changes often occur because of weather or time restraints. This may result in your shoot being postponed or cancelled and it can sometimes be with very short notice. We have no control over this!

Pay Day
On occasions you may get paid on the day, however usually it takes 4 – 6 weeks for payment to be received. This is only a general guide, and it really depends on the company. Some productions tend to pay quickly, whilst others like to wait for the filming to be finished before sending payments. Please be patient.

Don’t Let Us Down… Or Yourself !!

We can’t stress enough that when you are a member of SASHAZE Talent Agency, you become one of our representatives, and therefore you must act appropriately! When you are booked for a job please show up on time with a friendly face and a positive attitude. If you are repeatedly late for jobs, are unreliable or if we receive any negative feedback then we may unfortunately have to remove you from our books and terminate your contract immediately. Similarly it goes without saying… NEVER turn up for a job under the influence of alcohol or any other illegal substances!
